Ceres by the tree

This is the very first costume I sewed from scratch with a pattern, creating the entire fucking costume without using stuff I found in the store. It is of tribal Ceres from the anime, Ayashi no Ceres. It's the first outfit she has, before she gets pregnant. The designs on the tunic are painted.

This costume was commissioned for my friend Alana Fleischman. Unfortunately, she lost the red skirt that goes underneath this as well as one of the earrings I carved. So in this picture, I'm wearing a red dress (not made by me) from another costume, but I DID sew my own skirt. Also, the boots I'm wearing in the picture aren't what the character is supposed to wear, but the boots I made for Alana are several sizes too small for me and thus I had to improvise on short notice. Also, I'm not wearing a wig. Ceres is supposed to have dark black/blue hair but since Alana had that hair color when wearing the costume, a wig was never bought for this.

This is me in the picture. When Alana wore the costume, she didn't get any good pictures of it so I decided to wear it (though it's a bit small and short on me) in order to get good photos.

Though you can't really see it, I'm not wearing Ceres earrings. Because Alana lost one, I'm wearing the remaining one as a necklace, just because I worked damned hard on it and wanted to show it off. Just another tidbit about cosplay inconsistancy
