Description

Okay, this message is for the deviant art people who like to delete pictures because they're "not in the correct category." I put this picture in Photojournalism because I was asked to take some pictures of the wedding ceremony so that it could be "documented" but was not paid to do so as it was my cousin's wedding. I thought maybe it could go in conceptual because of the arrangement of the photo and what it could mean to those who look at it, but eh, I don't want to be presumptous in saying that I meant something huge by arranging it in this way, I'm not much of a photographer. I didn't put it in spontaneous portraits because this wasn't spontaneous, I took many pictures, all intended and I having nothing to do with the setup or placement of the people. If I'm wrong in my category choice, please let me know first and I'll change it, rather than you just take this out of my gallery. Thank you, Deviant Art people. That said...

This was in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and was a family wedding. The groom is my "cousin" Nic (more like a second or third cousin if at all, but when you're Italian, a cousin is a cousin, simple as that) and the bride is named Megan. The figures in the foreground are Nic's parents, Nic and Jeanie Risi. I didn't exactly have the greatest spot to take pictures without being obnoxious and drawing attention to myself by floating around elsewhere, so I stayed in my seat. For the most part, I kept zooming in the lens so that I could keep the backs of my aunt and uncle's heads out of the pictures and then eventually thought it would be cool to include them. I'm happy that both happy couples are in focus. You can come to whatever conclusions you want about the meanign of the photo arrangement. I just liked how the figures of the parents framed the figures of the new couple.
